AIPCA manages about 16 miles of road rights-of-way in the Plantation, all except those within private subdivisions and condo properties. On each side of the 20 foot wide paved portion of each right-of-way are 15 to 20 ft forested strips that provide a shady canopy over the roads. This is a unique feature of our plantation that adds value to our properties.
We estimate that there are about 15,000 mature trees along our roads. These trees are maintained to be free of dead limbs and encroaching vines to extend their natural life. The average natural life span for these trees varies by species but averages about 200 years, meaning we would expect to deal with about 75 dead tres each year just along our roads.
