AIPCA owns two miles of oceanfront dune land verging about 250 feet wide. We own six walkovers that we maintain for the benefit of all property owners. There are 23 others used by private home and condo associations that have been granted easements by AIPCA. The issue for all of these is that pedestrian traffic can destroy native beach grasses that prevent the soil from being blown away. Our objective is to maintain healthy native beach grass ground-cover to minimize wind erosion. In worst case situations sand fence is used on a temporary basis until the natural grass cover can be restored.
